Re: Mr. Crispy
Good post. But I have to ask: with those big rubber tires, I don't see a direct run to ground. Unless you have something that can act as a relatively low resistance between the power lines and earth ground, you've got virtually nothing. One explanation might be it was raining when it happened. Possible. Besides, the driver would be protected by all that metal surrounding him. |

Re: Mr. Crispy
As a person who has operated that piece of equipment, I would say it looks like he cought the line, did not want to cause more damage so he exited the get help, at that point making contact with ground....... |

Re: Mr. Crispy
I don't know about PA, but in the state of Maryland, it is illegal to operate cranes and other machinery within 10ft of 50KV powerlines unless those lines are de-energized and safely grounded until such activities has ceased. I can't speak for the crane on the post. Perhaps where they are, no such laws exist. Not a thought ... just the facts. |

Aw, c'mon Doosh - you've seen enough Darwin Awards to know that just because it's against the law, it doesn't keep people (including me) from doing very, very, very stupid things. Great first post, GG. |
