I remember something along the lines of this happening a few years ago at the trade school i went to. I took graphic arts and we had a TINY classroom. It had two doors, one going to a hall way and one going outside. about 15 feet away from the outside door was the schools telecommunications tower for networking and such. well, with fiber optics being installed, they decommissioned the tower and had it removed. it was being removed by a small crane with the controls on the OUTSIDE of the vehicle. The guy that was operating it accidentally hit one of the high power lines near him and because he was touching the controls and the ground...well you can imagine. Anyway. The electrical blast was so powerful it took out multiple computers and fried hard drives. All this happened on a Saturday. when we returned to school that Monday, there was nothing left but police tape and scorched ground.

Operated that type of equipment before. He obviously didn't train very well and would have been fired anyway.
