If he indeed survived the impact speed wasn't 120 mph. There wouldn't be much left of him intact in that case. That is comparable to the speed at which a jumper from a high building hits the ground (It's a function of how far they fall until they reach terminal velocity at which time the speed remains constant.) It is reasonable to conclude that while he was going 120 mph the truck was moving at a good clip so that the relative speed of impact was considerably less than 120 mph.
