Man, high alert would have been trusting the fact that people have a problem with authority. In my humble opinion, the initial hesitation to turn off the truck and get out before he needing to repeat it again... should have been enough for him to go back to his patrol car and wait for backup. I’ve been pulled over for the same tint infraction in Arizona multiple times and never got the single officer treatment. Always had to wait for additional officers before any of them asked me or passenger to get off.

Your handgun is useless against someone standing less than five feet away with an AR-15 who fires first.

I can’t second guess the officer nor his actions.
What I have seen time and again is that when officers (in videos) see a gun on an individual during a traffic stop, IMMEDIATELY unholster their firearm and aim it at the person being stopped and then LOUDLY, VERBALLY, DEMAND that the individual slowly exit vehicle with hands extended with NO quick movements. I did not see those steps taken in the video. RIP , officer.
