Mika Yamamoto, Japanese Journalist Killed in Aleppo, Syria, August 2012
Japanese war correspondent Mika Yamamoto, 45, of the Tokyo news agency Japan Press, was killed while recording a firefight in Aleppo's Suleiman al-Halabi district, Syria, on August 20, 2012. She was with Free Syrian Army rebels when men described by her colleague Kazutaka Sato as government soldiers fired from 20 to 30 meters away. Yamamoto was struck and later died in a nearby hospital. After her body was repatriated, a Tokyo Metropolitan Police autopsy determined that she had been hit by nine bullets, including a neck wound that severed her spinal cord. She had reported from Afghanistan in 2001 and during the 2003 Iraq invasion, and became the first Japanese journalist killed in the Syrian civil war. The Syrian government denied responsibility; no shooter was identified and no investigation result was published. |

Here's a vid as well. Looks like (and sources confirm) that she was shot in the arm and the throat. May have taken a round in the waist/legs as well. Can't tell if her pants are soaked in blood or something else.

The video was originally published here http://www.facebook.com/ANN.AlepNews according to ANSA. And it shows another japanese journalist (Kazutaka Sato) crying on her body. He was desperate because he "couldn't save her". :( There's another short (about 22 secs) video taken right before that one |

The FSA is backed by the Taliban and AL Qaeda, it's a no win situation, while Assad is definitely scum, to risk giving Al Qaeda a country to act as a base for international terrorism would be the worst disaster in recent history. |
