Yeah depending on, weave, thickness, type, and plate they become more and more uncomfortable. They also rise up when you sit down which is a pain in the ass. No reason though not to wear one. I didn't always wear mine but there was some real times I was glad I had it on. They leave one hell of a bruise though and its like getting hit in the solar plexus with a fist I'm told.
