If it's real, (which I highly doubt considering I'm pretty sure they wouldn't string him up with things impaled through his fingers) it appears to be a SEVERE burn victim. There are parts of the "skin" that are left but charred or seemingly melted to the muscle and bone.

Also, in response to why half his leg would be missing if he were a burn victim, they do amputate damaged limbs....although I can't see that portion of his leg being any worse than the rest of his body.  |

This is a burn bed, and that guy was severely burned over much of his body. He looks raw because they have to surgically remove the burned flesh before he can be ready for skin grafts. And yes, it's pure agony.
