I was on vacation in Alabama and had little or not Internet connection. It's the annual drive my Dad and my two daughters to visit the extended family and see the country vacation. I love to take that I-40 road trip...lots of interesting historical stuff to see. I went to the Fort Smith AK Museum. What a great job the Feds did on that museum...wow. It was one of the best laid out and presented museums/exhibits I've ever seen. I can hardly wait until they open up the new US Marshal's Museum in Fort Smith in a couple of years.

Yup...still living in the Democratic Worker's Paradise Of California. It was a long drive, but the girls are great travelers and we stop often to see stuff and get drinks and of course frequently use the restrooms. It's a fun trip, but I think next year I might take the lower route so I can take my Dad to see some of the more traditional "Wild West" areas in Arizona and Texas. It'll take a day or two longer, but I think it'll be more fun. My Dad just loves those Louie Lamoure books and it's fun to take him to visit the real locations that are in the books. We took in a lot of old Route 66 this time and man was that bleak in parts. So much has been abandoned and lost. A lot of the places looked like they were abandoned yesterday...everything was just left in place...very creepy and post apocalyptic.
