I usually let this one go, but since it's my thread, I feel inclined to comment.
This dynamic, while rife with problems, is nowhere close to paedophilia. The age of the older partner (or even the gap) is far less relevant than the age of the younger when making that distinction.
This girl was 15. Not emotionally/mentally mature by any stretch, but a very far cry from the pre-pubescent 'child' status that would make the husband a paedophile. Paedophiles are physically attracted to physical children. 15 year old teenager, in most circumstance, is much closer to being a physical adult than a physical child-especially with regard to female teenagers.
Is it socially and mentally and morally irresponsible for a middle-aged man to court/marry/screw a teenage girl? I'd say so. But the legal age of consent in the majority of the world is 16, so obviously many disagree with me.
The age of consent, legally-speaking, in Mexico is 12 btw.
Anyway, sorry for jumping on you about it. I just don't really care for knee-jerk misconceptions and people making the association between sex with high school students and paedophilia is one of the more irritatingly common ones that I see.
The guy was a loser. A murderer. And very ethically flawed in his choice of a wife. But he wasn't a paedo. At least not based on this circumstance.

Very well stated. As someone who studied psychology and loves to read history I would like to add that there wasn't laws against marrying young teenagers until I would say the mid to late 1900's. I might be mistaken, but only assuming from what little evidence I've seen. Young women (teenagers) long ago were raised differently. They had to mature quickly and prepare for the hardships of those times. They often married at 14-16, sometimes even younger. It wasn't until modern times and the dumbing down of societies did people begin to be trained to be less mature. Maybe technology has spoiled us, making us forget our roots. Just my thought...not based on facts.
