Long before the HIPPA Law (not that she would have told me real names anyways,) a close friend and co worker of my mother's was a psych nurse. My mom also worked the same unit, but this woman was a bit older and was the nurse manager, and they would chat about their job over coffee all the time. They were talking about this one young man, about 22 years old, good looking, but so depressed and wanted to die. He would always end up alive and in the same hospital where my mom and her friend worked. He tried slitting his wrists, od's on a plethora of pills....so many different things he tried. Well, one night he came in again, this time with a knife stuck in his neck. They went to work on his neck and that was fixed, he would not die from it. But then, all of sudden, he coded! He also took a hefty dose of phenobarbital as well, he KNEW they would work on his neck right away, therefore, he would get his way finally. THAT was someone who really really wanted to die. |
