I've never mocked those suffering with addiction but may be if the addicted weren't so god damn ignorant and stupid in the first place they wouldn't be addicted?

they remain and act ignorant until they grudgingly accept help or realise they have to stop because of some other biological disease brought on by addiction

In addiction there is no infectious agent (as in tuberculosis), no pathological biological process (as in diabetes), and no biologically degenerative condition (as in Alzheimer's disease). The only "disease-like" aspect of addiction is that if people do not deal with it, their lives tend to get worse and thats almost always by choice.
