Re: Man Crushed to Death by a Tractor

He looks a lot less crushed than I thought he'd be after seeing that pic with the tractor on him.

Re: Man Crushed to Death by a Tractor

The main culprit in most industrial and farm injuries is...COMPLACENCY.

It's always a dangerous environment, but people become used to it and may no longer take appropriate precautions.

Tractors have a very high Center of Gravity and can pretty easily topple over.
Well said, and unless you are an athlete and spring out of the way as it topples the results will be the same, you'll end up under the tractor.

Re: Man Crushed to Death by a Tractor

Most of the time it happens when the tractor is trying to pull something in forward gear. The object doesn't budge and the tractor with its tremendous torque raises the front wheels and rolls over. A very good friend of mine lost his daughter who was trying to pull a stump out with a tractor and she ended up wearing it. 1) ALWAYS pull from the front 2) and have your foot at the ready on the clutch and 3) Never use idle up lever when pulling. Just a tip from yer old farmer Vammy.

Re: Man Crushed to Death by a Tractor

When I was growing up in the midwest, it wasn't uncommon to see 1 legged old men. until 60's or 70's most tractors were "trikes". The front 2 wheels were together directly under the frame. Many rolled over, taking many lives and limbs.
