Man Crushed to Death by a Tractor

I'm no expert but aren't tractors pretty slow?? How does one get run over by a tractor? Brazil
The Fire Department was called this afternoon (Jan 11) to attend an accident scene in a Rural Area. An agricultural machine has crushed and killed a farmer. Victim's identity is not yet released.

Re: Man Crushed to Death by a Tractor

Okay I just realized that the tractor is upside down so it somehow flipped over and crushed him. It didn't run him over.

Re: Man Crushed to Death by a Tractor

That happened to my grandfather back in 1983. He survived, very fortunately, but broke his neck when the tractor flipped back over him.

The main culprit in most industrial and farm injuries is...COMPLACENCY.

It's always a dangerous environment, but people become used to it and may no longer take appropriate precautions.

Tractors have a very high Center of Gravity and can pretty easily topple over.

Re: Man Crushed to Death by a Tractor

With early tractors, from the 1910's into the 1930's, these kinds of deaths were common. Early Fordson tractors would tip over backwards if you goosed the throttle. They finally put huge rear fenders on them so they could only lift up so far before the fenders touched the ground and stopped the accident. Thousands of farmers were killed on these early tractors.
But I guess they were better than a horse or a mule.

Re: Man Crushed to Death by a Tractor

Many will roll over backwards like that if you really get on the throttle in low gear. I've seen idiots almost remove themselves from this life that way on more than one occasion. Let's be careful out there, kids.

Re: Man Crushed to Death by a Tractor

All tractors should have roll bars...
