What do you think of these stand up funerals in California? Angel Pantoja Medina, (recently deceased) gives the saying 'dead man walking' new meaning. Seems the guy wanted to be propped up and "stand" at his own funeral. Here's to you, Angel. You got your wish. For his three-day wake, friends and family stopped by to pay Angel their last respects, (and obviously, get a picture). Implications - Mourning is being revolutionized through stand-up funerals. Themed coffins and funerals are a related trend that supports this idea. Instead of dying like everyone else, people are ensuring that their death and funeral will be remembered as much as their life will be. This also reflects the broader theme that consumers are willing to spend more money on their funerals. These are supposed to be the same guy, but, doesn't look like it to me.
