He could have been a new guy and didn't time himself right. Or he could have done it intentionaly. Odd thing is, I don't see a trip switch/button in his near visinity like there's supposed to be. The modern ones have lazer beams that stops the machine if it detects something in it's way.

With that big piece of paper there it makes me wonder if they weren't setting the machine up or fixing something on it. I've worked around high-tonnage presses like that before. That guy would not stick his head in there if it was running normally and like Godrekr said there are all kinds of safety devices on machines like that to stop them instantly if anything is out of place. Sometimes the safety beams or barriers have to be removed to work on a machine and I think that's how this guy got killed. He stuck his head in there to check something and the ram accidentally fell on him. |
