Re: Machine Accident at Work

He could have been a new guy and didn't time himself right. Or he could have done it intentionaly. Odd thing is, I don't see a trip switch/button in his near visinity like there's supposed to be. The modern ones have lazer beams that stops the machine if it detects something in it's way.

Re: Machine Accident at Work

That's a metal press. You slide in sheets of metal and it presses down on them to shape them into metal parts, ie.,car doors, metal bath tubs, pots and pans, etc. The pressure per square inch is incredible. Hell, it's pressing metal so you can imagine.
yeah i saw those kind of machines in the 8 mile movie, like the ones that pressed the metal sheets into car bonnets.

Re: Machine Accident at Work

With that big piece of paper there it makes me wonder if they weren't setting the machine up or fixing something on it. I've worked around high-tonnage presses like that before. That guy would not stick his head in there if it was running normally and like Godrekr said there are all kinds of safety devices on machines like that to stop them instantly if anything is out of place.

Sometimes the safety beams or barriers have to be removed to work on a machine and I think that's how this guy got killed. He stuck his head in there to check something and the ram accidentally fell on him.

Re: Machine Accident at Work

But how did his head get in there in the first place?

It doesen't really seem accidental.. I'm having a hard time imaginening anyone would be stupid enough to stick their head in a metal press. I mean, there might have been something wrog with the machine, but still, you don't put your fucking head in a metal press to have a peek! Unless you want to lose your head that is..

It just doesen't make sense to me..
he was probably suicidal?!

Re: Machine Accident at Work

Holy shit, anyone know what type of machine this is?
Don't know, but seems like it's strong enough to crack heads.
