Re: Look Carefully Before You Retrieve a Golf Ball from a South Carolina Water Hazard!
no, LOL! i remember the greetings for hello and goodbye, stray words like barracks, jeep, and typewriter, and ass. kim chi, ke go gi, bul go gi. not many people to practice korean on around here. almost twenty years ago i taught conversational english to a young korean woman in my neighborhood, and that was the last time i used korean with any regularity.

Re: Look Carefully Before You Retrieve a Golf Ball from a South Carolina Water Hazard!
I learnt spanish in spain, I lived there for about 5 years some 21 years ago, I really remember my time there very fondly, in fact I can't really remember being happier, the spanish are very extroverted but friendly with it, I went to a spanish school and couldn't speak a word, but the other kid's rallied round and after a while it just came naturally, very happy times indeed.

The difference between a spanish school and an english school is respect, over here in england the kid's have no respect, why? because they know that they can get away with almost anything, you abuse a spanish teacher, and your ass is grass, bring back the cane, teach these little shit's pain. I remember the teacher's back hand fondly, and she was't playing tennis either. |

respect is an important thing, but if anyone is going to spank my kids it's going to be me. corporal punishment belongs with parents. kids accept it because they know it's applied in love. anything else causes anger. and you never swat a behind past 9 or 10. it totally loses effectiveness after that. good parents have gotten the lessons in by then anyway, and their kids wouldn't have to be smacked at any school. i know my kids were always well loved by their teachers for their behavior.

I do not know about the laws in the states, but over here parent's aren't allowed to discipline their own kid's, a swift slap keeps them in line, but do that and you risk arrest, PC-ness has gone mad. Kid's need to fear something, I do not have kid's, so maybe I am being harsh, but school is a front line defence, corporal punishment is a tool to instill respect, and respect shall be given to said child as long as they behave. |
