It is called a pugilistic stance and happens when bodies are exposed to extremely high temperatures. It causes the body to contract into a boxer-like stance, which is where the term comes from.

Just a guess here, but, with all the fluids burned, it kind of make sense. No moisture, you shrivel up. My youngest brother died in a fire standing at a bathroom sink with his dog just outside of the door with her paws over her face. |
