Lawyer's Wife Shot to Death in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya

A 37-year-old housewife was fatally shot in the head by a gunman on April 28, 2018 in near the Chowking restaurant in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines. Her husband, Atty. Gerald "Gerry" Tayaban, was supposed to be the target of the shooting. But, the bullet hit his wife instead.

Batay sa isinagawang pagsisiyasat ni PO3 Michael Quirimit, dakong alas-10:45 ng umaga matapos bumaba sa minamanehong sasakyan (Suzuki Alto UEB 721) ang biktima kasama ang kapatid at tatlong anak nang lapitan siya ng gunman at barilin sa ulo sa Gen. Luna Street.

Nabigla naman si Atty. Tayaban na nasa hiwalay na sasakyan nang makitang barilin ng isa sa mga suspek ang kanyang mi*sis. Tinutukan din umano ang nasabing abogado ng baril ng suspek bago sumakay sa nag-aabang na motorsiklo at mabilis na tumakas.

Sa ulat ng Nueva Vizcaya SOCO, isang bala ng cal. 45 ang tumama sa ulo ng biktima na na*ging sanhi ng kanyang agarang pagkamatay.

Pumarada lamang ang biktima kasama ang pamilya para kumain sana sa isang fastfood chain nang asintahin siya sa ulo ng suspek.

Ayon kay Atty. Tayaban, wala naman umano siyang banta sa kanyang buhay para sabihin na siya ang target ng suspek, bukod dito ay hindi naman siya umano binaril nang tutukan siya ng gunman.

Public Attorney's Office lawyer's wife, killed by gunman

SOLANO, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines - The Public Attorney's Office lawyer's wife was killed after being shot in the head by motorcycle riders in Poblacion North in this town yesterday noon [April 29, 2018].

Solano Police identified the fatality as Merlyn Tayaban, 37, of Poblacion, Kiangan, Ifugao, and wife of Atty. Gerald Tayaban who currently holds the Public Attorney's Office in Alfonsolita, Ifugao.

Based on PO3 Michael Quirimit's investigation, at 10:45 AM, after the victim, along with her sibling and three children got out of their vehicle (Suzuki Alto UEB 721), she was approached by a gunman, and was shot in the head at General Luna Street.

Atty. Tayaban, who was inside the other vehicle, was shocked when he saw one of the suspects shooting his wife. The said lawyer was also held at gunpoint by the suspect before fleeing on a motorcyle.

Based on a report by Nueva Vizcaya SOCO (Scene of the Crime Operatives), a .45 caliber bullet hit the victim's head that resulted in her immediate death.

The victim, along with her family, parked to go on a lunch at a fastfood chain [Chowking] when she was shot in the head by the suspect.

Atty. Tayaban said that he has no known death threats to say that he was the suspect's target, also he was not shot when he was held at gunpoint by a gunman.
