Ingrid Irene Ribeiro Killed in Cajati Truck Crash, Baby Born Alive, July 2018
Ingrid Irene Ribeiro, 20, was killed July 26, 2018, when the timber truck in which she was riding left BR-116 and overturned in the Serra do Azeite area of Cajati, São Paulo state. Ribeiro, who had accepted a ride in the Curitiba region, was ejected and crushed beneath the truck's load of sawn timber. The trauma ruptured her abdomen and uterus, expelling her full-term daughter. The baby was found alive at the scene, still attached by the umbilical cord. A doctor lifted timber away, cut the cord and carried the child to an ambulance. Ribeiro died at the scene, while the baby was taken to a hospital in Pariquera-Açu and found to be unhurt. The driver was injured and later discharged. Police said he would answer an inquiry into negligent homicide. |

Are you freaking kidding me?!?! Such a amazing story but incredibly sad as well. That mommy did her job well and safely protected her little one right up to the end. She will keep protecting her little one as a angel.

Awesome that they could save the little one. Hopefully there's a dad that can take care of him.

Re: Ingrid Irene Ribeiro Killed in Cajati Truck Crash, Baby Born Alive, July 2018
On 27th July 2018 in Pariquera-Açu, a traffic accident claimed the life of a pregnant woman. She was thrown out of the truck that she was travelling in, her abdomen was ruptured, which forced the baby out. According to the doctor that attended the scene, the baby girl was 'woven into the remains'. The doctor removed the baby from the woman + checked her over. She was sent to the hospital + is doing well. The baby girl weighs 6lb 9oz + 46cm. The woman was without ID, so the baby will be taken to a shelter until family members, hopefully, come forward. *UPDATE* The woman's name's Ingrid Irene Ribeiro. UPDATE #2 Ingrid was buried this morning (31st July) in São José dos Pinhais. The baby has left the hospital + is with her maternal grandmother. The baby will be named Jenifer Eduarda. The truck driver is charged in flagrante delicto with manslaughter. The man said that he had met Ingrid at a petrol station + had offered her a ride. |

That is nuts. Such a close call with extinction, but her genes will carry on.

Such a sad and surreal thing. The mother is dead in a gruesome way but her baby lives on.

Re: Ingrid Irene Ribeiro Killed in Cajati Truck Crash, Baby Born Alive, July 2018
It is called a coffin birth, but, I don´t know of a baby surviving until now. She, (I think), is smiling at the people who saved her. |
