Shotgun slugs aren't nearly as big as most people think they are. One old trick to check the choke on a 12 gauge is to drop a dime down the barrel. If it falls through, it's a modified or larger. If the dime gets stuck in the barrel, it's a full choke. So we're talking about an entrance wound slightly larger than the diameter of a dime.
