ALEXANDRIA - More than three years ago he sealed his mother's corpse in the closet at home. Today he was found dead in the garage and the story came to light from a writing on a wall of the apartment. Perhaps he hadn't reported the woman's death in order to take advantage of her pension. It is an incredible story that happened in Orsara Bormida, a village on the hills around Acqui Terme in the province of Alessandria. The protagonist is a 35-year-old man, Mirko Sartori, who rented a house near the castle of Orsara, in via San Martino. He lived alone with his mother, Anna Pelloni, a pensioner born in 1931. A shy couple who did not associate with the people of the town.

BROKEN CHEST - On Monday the owner of the apartment went to the house in search of Sartori, who he hadn't heard from for a couple of weeks. He saw the semi-open garage door and went inside: inside, under a Fiat Panda awkwardly raised with a jack that had then given way, was the man's body, with his chest smashed.

MESSAGE ON THE WALL - The owner has warned the carabinieri that they have entered Sartori's house. Inside, clutter, dirt and the walls covered with writing. One said: 'You who will find us, my mother is in the bedroom closet. I found her dead on November 20, 2002 ». A quick check made it possible to ascertain that the indication was true: the bedroom closet had been sealed and inside was in fact the now mummified corpse of the elderly woman who died probably at the age of 71.

A RESERVED COUPLE - The carabinieri heard the neighbors (but the street is short and sparsely populated) who said they hadn't noticed anything. Until last month the woman's pension would be regularly withdrawn. Mother and son were little known in the area. Originally from Genoa, they first moved to the Milanese area and only later to the province of Alessandria. They had arrived in Orsara Bormida for about four years. She retired, he was looking for a job, they lived on an isolated street and had poor relations with the neighbors.

DOMESTIC SANCTUARY - The interior of their home, a small single-family house for rent, was found completely covered with writing, largely meaningless. Some said: "Don't hurt her, I protected my mother with God's help." On the upper floor of the villa Mirko Sartori had set up a sort of sanctuary. The wardrobe containing Anna Pelloni's body had been sealed with silicone. In the same way, the windows of the room where the mother was found mummified were hermetically sealed. The shutters had been barred by nailing wooden planks.
