1. Introduction


Funkytown is a mexican cartel/gang video that firstly surfaced online on 26th September 2016 in the websites documentingreality.com "Trying to Behead Still Alive Faceless Handless Man" by Etsu and kaotic.com "Shocking: Rival Gang Member Flayed Tortured and Beheaded" by PinkFloyd


Both website versions are different to eachother since kaotic has 2 minutes and 49 seconds in length and documenting reality has 2 minutes and 50 seconds in length.



Another fact that they are different it's because in kaotic and many other variants of the clip it's a bit slowed at the end, the victim does make a sound of agony but it doesn't match his mouth and the cartel guy is cut off when he tries to tell something, but in documenting reality the sound and mouth matches and the cartel/gang person moves the towel with the boxcutter from the victim’s neck and the screen goes black for a second or two.



I couldn't find more clues about funkytown in kaotic since is gone, but i found more stuff about it in Etsu's thread/forum that they were rivals and that she obtained the video from a contact in Brazil. 2. Background


In September 2016 there was a big conflict between CIDA (Cártel Independiente de Acapulco) and BLO (Beltrán Leyva Organization) in the region of Acapulco, Guerrero and BLO fought CIDA over the teritory so they can regain it back. Which this lead for those cartels to do kidnappings, mass executions and torture methods such as flaying people's faces, dismember the bodies and leave them on the streets with narco messages next to them.

On 10th/11th September 2016 this is what happened to the funkytown victim (his identity is still unknown) he worked for either CIDA or BLO and he was kidnapped somewhere in Guerrero and they made FunkyTown out of him, after they finished the video, they beheaded him and dismembered his arms and legs then placed him near a cemetery and house 12 in Pipila Street, Acapulco on the night of 11th September 2016 with a narco message which was never revealed to the public. Eventually someone from their cartel posted the video to another person in whatsapp which it forwarded everywhere in whatsapp even in brazilian whatsapp group chats and eventually PinkFloyd and Etsu stumbled upon this video and then they decided to post it on the internet to the websites: documentingreality and kaotic

5. Rumours


Many people claimed that the victim was connected to an IV so the perpetrators kept him alive, but that's completely false. The only thing the perpetrators held the victim with was a white cable/rope so he couldn't escape.


A extended version of funkytown, which it's just a rumour but might be true since whatsapp time limit of the videos were 2 minutes and 50 seconds in length at that time, but also this is how another notorious cartel video named No Mercy in Mexico found it's way online, firstly the video was shared around in private whatsapp groups into 3 parts all of them being 2 minutes and 50 seconds and then posted into this site, but the only existing extended version of funkytown it is dr version which i've discussed about it above.


Another rumour that i've heard a lot it's about the infamous Narco Football/Hi being made by the same cartel/gang. Funkytown and Narco Football were both made by a mexican gang, but hi's perpetrators do not sound like any of the perpetrators from funkytown, the rooms in both videos are different, narco football's room is quite larger while in funkytown the room is smaller and the tile in funkytown is slightly larger than narco football's.



6. Forensic Breakdown:



A few weeks ago on 11th September 2026 youtuber Disturbed Reality with the help from one of his subscribers found a old blog from a news report outlet Digital Guerrero about a dismembered body found in Acapulco, Guerrero on the night of 11th September 2016.

In the first picture the head of the victim is in a cooler and if you look closely the similarities are pretty obvious like the hairline, the ear and the remaining skin.


In the second photo there are two severed arms, a part of the flayed face and black cabling which again have so many things in common like the black cabling into both of his arms.


Because of Disturbed Reality's video i have decided to email youtuber ShockChan about this discovery and then me, disturbed, shockchan and a discord user made a discord group chat to discuss and search old news archives.

7. Location


As always, ShockChan has identified the exact location where they dumped the dismembered body at house 12 Del Pipila Street in Acapulco.

I remember seeing the cartel video many years ago where a man was skinned alive to a Guns N Roses song playing in the background but never saw the funky town flaying. Hopefully the guy was on drugs or something during his execution because that is not a nice way to go.

At that time when Disturbed Reality firstly uncovered the video he said that the perpetrators drugged him and then everyone took that idea from disturbed which eventually the iv story wasn't even true and he admitted that mistake in his last video about funkytown. Damn. Honestly, the moment I knew this kind of fate was in store for me, I’d either kill myself on some drugs fast knowing these people are after me or pass out and have a heart attack from the impending torture I’m about to endure. How these guys stay awake through this is crazy…
