Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
A truly huge accident for Scotsman Allan McNish at the 2012 Le Mans 24 hours race. He explained what happened, “I clipped a Ferrari, hit the gravel trap at a fair old speed, which lifted the car up into the barrier, and then rolled a few times. I had no injuries or anything – I just had to wait for the marshals to right the car before I could get out. “I didn’t realise it was such a big impact, and that the car had been flying so high, until the next day when I saw the back page of L’Equipe.” Allan was very successful in F3 and F3000 before embarking on a Sportcar career winning Le Mans in 1998 and 2008. He won the American Le Mans series in 2006 and 2007 and has won the 12 Hours of Sebring four times. In 2002 he raced for the Toyota F1 team with a best result of 7th and had raced in the DTM during 2005 with a best result of 4th. |

Davey Hamilton crashed into the wall coming out of turn two after hitting Jeret Schroeder's car at the IRL Casino Magic 500 at Texas Motor Speedway on June 9th 2001. He suffered terrible foot, ankle and leg injuries that required twenty one seperate operations. The front of the car was sheared off in this 220 mph impact. |

The acceleration of dragsters and funny cars is unbelievable. The spectator's video taken from the side of the track captures it well.

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
Toxicology results showed alcohol in his system... Not saying that had anything to do with the crash but who knows... .002% and if he had JUST consumed alcohol shortly before, it's possible he could have been legally intoxicated. BAC rises for one hour after consuming. If you have never read the OFFICIAL autopsy report you should. He may have lived had he not hit the TV crews (ESPN) truck at the end of the track. One of the HUGE lifts... He hit it so hard it broke the boom on it in 2...

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
AWESOME POST!!! For this man to ever walk fairly normally again, is a MIRACLE... None the less crawling back in an IndyCar and making 5 Indy 500's after this crash, after it taking 5 months just to stand up and being in a wheelchair for over a year. Every time I have ever seen or spoken with him, he is so pleasant! I am a huge fan of this guy for what he's been through, how he overcame adversity, and for simply how nice of a guy he is!

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
Mike Conway's 2010 crash at the Indy 500. This was a horrific crash. Mike is VERY lucky to be alive. He still walks with a terrible limp from this crash. One of my friends is on the Fire Rescue crew and told me after the race how much the track and media actually downplayed his injuries. Conway's left foot was nearly amputated. To see it on tv, it seemed he was not too injured. Lets put it this way... They flew him by helicopter straight from the track, to a hospital, without even working on him in the Infield Care Center... It took 3 wreckers to get the car off the track. The crash happened in Turn 4, but for some reason they brought the car off the track in turn 2 right in front of me. I will post a couple of my personal pics after these... Enjoy. |

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
Conway in the ambulance headed to the chopper and then the front part of Conway's car on the wrecker. I had more pics I snapped of all the wreckers bringing in different pieces of his car, but for some reason this is all I can find now. DAMMIT!
