Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
Ernesto José Viso Lossada's amazing escape during the 2007 GP2 race at French track Magny-Cours. After contact his Racing Engineering car somersaulted over the barriers crashing through an advertising hoarding and narrowly missing a bridge.

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
Time to chip in again: Re: Fittipaldi... even though he broke his back and was nearly 50 he did think he could come back. Then he survived a plane crash with relatively minor injuries. At the time he said something like "The crash at Michigan was God telling me it was time to retire, the plane crash was him making his point very clear!" The Viso crash was one I saw and I thought "Oh shit" eerily reminiscent of Marco Campos' fatal crash at the same track, a car cartwheeling down the wall is never a good thing. For anyone who can check out the video he actually wipes out a fire extinguisher as he rolls, the marshal manning that station had scarpered on the 1st contact! The same race is notable for the comedy moment of the two iSport (nothing to do with Apple!) drivers who started 1st & 2nd, crashing into each other before the 1st corner - team boss not amused! |

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
Giorgio Bartocci's horrible crash during the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo race series at the Brno track in the Czech Republic during 2010. Giorgio was leading the race early on but went wide at the final corner losing control and spearing into the end of the pit wall. This impact ripped open the car, the seat belts failed leaving Giorgio unconcious half hanging out of the car which had by now erupted in flames. He was dragged from the burning wreck by his pit crew. He suffered burns and broken bones but was very lucky to survive. |

Once again, one of my local tracks! CRAZY, SCARY fast, wide 3/8 (more like almost 1/2) mile track with a concrete wall all the way around it. Thanks for posting. Was not at this race but heard all about this!
