Rare photo's of Frenchman Henri Pescarolo's horrible crash on the Mulsanne Straight in testing for the 1969 Le Mans 24 hours in a Matra 640.

Travelling at around 250 kmh down the straight the car took off landing in trees and exploding, somehow Henri pulled himself out of the wreck suffering nasty burns and still bares the scars.

The Ludovico Scarfiotti/Gerhard Mitter Porsche 907 crashing out during the Targa Florio 1968.

Scarfiotti would lose his life in June of '68 in a hillclimb crash and Mitter during the German GP in 1969.

Jouko Puhakka's massive crash on stage 17 of the 1994 1000 Lakes rally in his Mitsubishi Lancer RS, after his suspension collapsed at speed.

Jouko broke his pelvis but made a full recovery to return to rallying and win a number of Finnish Rally Championships.

Fantastic! I actually have a recording of the Finnish Ruutulippu TV program, that showed the path of the car through the trees and then the car lying in there. I hadn't seen any photos.

A fatal crash during the 1966 Monte Carlo Rally which claimed the life of driver, José Luis Pampyn and his co-driver Manuel Zaldívar in a Fiat 1500. The car left the road at high speed and hit a tree.

This where it all started for me. Donnington park in 1978, Bruno Giacomelli bins his works March 782 at Redgate corner in the Euro f2 race. A very excited young 7 nearly wet his pants!
