Thank you. Those were the best seats I ever had, and I missed almost all of the race due to the rainouts. I had to go home the day of the race.

Thank you. Those were the best seats I ever had, and I missed almost all of the race due to the rainouts. I had to go home the day of the race. Walther slid to a stop right across the track from us but I'd stupidly run out of film, so no more pics.

Louis Hery's fatal crash on lap 5 of the 1956 Le Mans in his Monopole X86 - Panhard. Louis was trapped in his car when it flipped at Maison Blanche and died soon afterwards.

Guy Mairesse's fatal crash during practice for the Coupe de Paris at Montlhery in 1954 when trying to avoid another car he crashed heavily into a wall. Guy finished second at Le Mans in 1950 and '51 as well as taking part in three GP for Talbot during the same period. · · |

The wrecked Ferrari 330 MM Vignale of American Tom Cole Jr after his fatal crash at Maison Blanche during the 1953 Le Mans. Tom left the road on lap 175, hitting a farm house and being thrown from the car.

Floyd Roberts fatal crash at Indy 1939 on lap 106 when he hit the spinning car of Bob Swanson and was launched into and through a fence at over 100mph. Floyd died of head injuries. Roberts had won Indy the year before after starting from pole. Swanson died a year later while qualifying for a midget car race in Ohio. |

The Francois Picard/Robert Tappan Ferrari 500 TR after crashing out on lap 137 of Le Mans 1956. Picard took part in one GP, the 1958 Moroccan Grand Prix where he crashed into the spinning Ferrari of Olivier Gendebien. He was seriously injured and never raced again. |
