Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)

Great work Alvin, thanks for posting all of this. Hope you post everything you have.

Just a small correction though, it was actually Alboreto who lost a wheel in the pits injuring 2 Lotus and 2 Ferrari mechanics. Barrichello crashed out on track on his own during Friday practice.

Also, that pic of Ratzy with the blood pouring out his nose and mouth is quite shocking. WOW

Thanks for the kind words and I will post everything I have, this thread has years to go before im depleted

And thank you for the correction, I hate excuses but all I can say is that I spent hours just trying to make sure I filtered out any pictures from 1994 that was in that folder that held like 350 pictures and my mind was all over the place so I mixed up the pit incident with the practice crash

And this is for everybody, in all seriousness if I make a mistake please let me know so I can fix it before the Edit time limit runs out, I always welcome corrections because I am the most unorganized person of all time, and I will not take offense (unless you try to correct me on something that is already correct, then I will fly off the handle )

Its a miracle that this thread has even a slight minor look of of being in some kind of order, if this thread looked like my computer nobody would be able to see any picture or any video at all, just 15,000 empty folders and 100,000 folders with sub folders that has only one picture in it

My wife just loves when she is showing a guest our Disney Land Trip Pic Folder and half way through stuck in the middle is color picture of Tom Pryce showing his head wound

Its safe to guess that her friend has declined every dinner invite since then

Keep it going. Good shit. Also could you point out Smiley's body better aswell? Sorry, just can't seem to see it. I can see it rolling and flopping on the ground when it's rolling in the wheels, but when he's in the air, I'm still lost. Thanks

It is shocking, and I hate that picture

I try to do a couple things with pictures like that

I will either put them in the middle of a post and not say anything about it (like with Ratzy) or I will post a small warning and put them at the bottom (like with Revson)

It makes me feel better about not "shouting from the rooftops" that I just posted a morbid death picture

The hardcore racing buffs would have an instant stroke if they saw this thread and call me a ghoul and a jerk who has no feelings and only like racing for the deaths

Of course none of that is true, but I still try to keep a respectful tone in every post, I mean shit I almost deleted the stupid comment I made about the Japanese Sportscaster screaming and it being kinda funny, because the next morning I read it and said to myself "Your a fucking prick, how would you like to be sitting next to Takashi's mother and watching that clip and laughing and asking her if she thought that scream was funny?"

If you saw this post already I apologize but a couple posts below the video I gave some pointers

http://www.documentingreality.com/fo...45/index8.html

Pop out the JV player to full screen

Pause between 58 and 59 seconds

Out in front of the wrecked car and flames you can see Gordo in his white racing suit, his legs are inside the flames/wreck but it looks as if he is sitting down with his back and back of his head towards the viewer

Now once you find his head hit play and follw it into the catchfence and then striking the large pole

Once you can zero in on it and see what happens when his head hits it, you wont want to watch it again
I have always used "Reverse Engineering" when having trouble finding the driver in a film

Its very hard to find Gordo in the video footage when the wreck is up against the catch fence, and easier to spot when he is on the track and the wreck starts to seperate

So at the very first instant when you spot him on the track pause and then hit back step frame by frame (If you have Windows Classic Media Player and download the video I posted) and follow him backwards

That will make it much easier

The pictures are another story, it takes a long time to figure out what is what and if what is who. I still am unsure in a couple pictures and I have studied them for over a decade

Any specific questions I will answer no problem

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)

Wolfgang Von Trips and 18 spectators: Monza 1961 Italian Grand Prix

Here is a vid I made, instead of listening to the German narration I added some appropriate non offensive music

Pics will follow

I remember the part at 1:34 when the paramedics pick up von Trips' body, and you can see his arm dangling off the side. That was really sad.

So many great drivers over the years...

Thank you SO MUCH again for this thread!

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)

I thought I posted the Roger Williamson clip from the infamous Italian Mondo Documentary in this thread but I posted it in an older thread

So here it is to stay
Williamson's death to me was the most horrific ever!
It was especially heartbreaking to see Dave Purley trying so hard to push the car up to free him and all the other people just standing around with their thumbs up their asses. It looked like those people were saying " but it's toooo HOT to touch!" rather than even TRYING to save the man's life! I've seen a lot of videos of this where people call Purley a hero for his actions, I don't know if he and Williamson were friends in life, but it would be even sadder if they were.

They were friends and teammates, in fact the only two British drivers that made the trip to that Grand Prix

In fact I heard a rumor that the team owner asked the veteran Purley to look after Williamson, not in the sense of as a driver as Williamson could drive and knew what to do, the in and outs, but more of dont let anybody mess with him or bump him around on the track, or if he gets in trouble help him

So not only were they friends but the weight of being responsible for Williamson had to weigh on Purley heavily

I get physically angry when I watch that clip, but when I see that one marshal make a lame stupid attempt to kick dirt on the fire that is raging out of control while Purley is running around like crazy trying everything to get the fire out or Williamson out, I go into heart attack mode

Just horrible and disgusting, everybody that was working the track that day should be ashamed of themselfs for life

That's no prob, you did a great job. I've always been fasinated with this wreck. Just because I can't see it. I don't get off on the death, it's just curiosity about what happens when we die and stuff. Hope to see more pics soon. Keep this thread alive people! : rockon:r ockon

P.s. Those marshals that were just standing there as he was trying to help his friend are cowards and I hope they pay for it.

I feel the same exact way you do, its morbid curiosity, nothing more nothing less

You would have to be a sick motherfucker to get off on any of these images, some strike me so hard that it makes me sick

Like the pictures from the 1950s of Skimp Hursey on fire, every time I see his name, let alone see the pictures I remember having nightmares as a young child when I first saw them

Just typing his name right now made the hair on my arms stand up

Its very refreshing to see that 99% of the DR members in this thread all think along the same lines
