Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)

Thank you for posting these amazing, but tragic, pictures. They remind me of comments I've heard from both Niki Lauda and Jackie Stewart that, because of the speed, a racing accident has much more in common with an aircraft crash than it does an accident on the public highway.
We can't expect much else but carnage and hell, when they have a solid concrete wall around a bend, at the end of a 200mph straight.

Things were never going to end well for anybody who lost it big time on that bend.

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)

Wasn't there some controversy that the last few frames of the in car cam were missing prior to Sennas impact with the wall?
Oh man so many crazy conspiracy theories about the missing frames....

A sniper shot him through the head

He had a heart attack

A helicopter dropped an oil slick Spy Hunter style on the track right in front of Senna

He hit a track marshal and it was a huge cover up so they spliced Sennas dashcam and doctored all the other footage (including the live footage )
Just completely ludicrous theories

I think that the impact destroyed whatever footage was on the tape that had not gone back on to the tape reel (remember in 1994 no SD Cards) so some frames before impact were destroyed

I dont buy into any conspiracy whatsoever

There is so much other footage already why would somebody need to remove some frames?

I thought I read somewhere that they thought the steering column may have broke and some conspiracy nuts thought that implicated the team so they "lost them"

Either way, it was a tragedy. There will never be another Senna!

And by the way, excellent thread!!!!

Thank you for the kind words

Now if there was a conspiracy that I might believe it would be his team and the steering column breaking like you described

Because if the team felt at fault or was at fault and the last frames show a steering column failure, I could see them "losing" those frames

But its highly unlikely

And Senna was the last great driver, everyone that came after his death sucks and would get their asses drug up and down the track by Senna all day long

Nice one, some amazing pics. The Smiley crash in colour is horrific.

I've just reached the Peter Revson photos, fucking terrible. There's a few there I've never seen before, almost wish I hadn't.

Im telling you man, I wish I had never seen them either

There are not enough adjectives in the universe to describe how seeing Revson in death made me feel

I have similar crash pictures of other drivers that are close to being as bad, but I will wait a while and space them out over time, it just feels wrong with some of the pictures that are really bad

Years ago there was a guy online who claimed to have a black and white picture of Gordon Smiley at the trauma center, he refused to post it because it made him feel guilty just having it

After being told he is liar and nobody believes him and he was a wimp and all that stupid shit he scanned the picture and cropped out the upper half of his body so all you could see was the legs and posted it for like 6 hours to show that he did in fact own the picture

Instead of shutting up all the internet idiots all it did was drive them into a frenzy. Money offers, begging for a copy sent in email, all kinds of nagging and pleading, it was disgusting

I was one of a very few (and I mean VERY few) who told him not to post, show, sell or trade because I knew that guilty feeling

Would I like to have that picture? Yes and No

Yes because of my collector of rare things mindset

No because I dont think I would ever show it anybody and just thinking of what that entire picture shows makes me shiver

I thought I posted the Roger Williamson clip from the infamous Italian Mondo Documentary in this thread but I posted it in an older thread

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)

Ok here is an amazing and horrible set of pictures of both Senna and Ratzy in both crashes

It took a little while to get them seperated out, so I do not have them in any type of order

If you cant tell Sennas crash between Ratzys crash just ask me

For heads up Ratzy drives the light multicolored pastel blue/green car with the large MTV logo on one side, Senna car is just blue

Also there are some pics of the Barichello pit crash where he ran into some of his crew and hurt himself as well
Great work Alvin, thanks for posting all of this. Hope you post everything you have.

Just a small correction though, it was actually Alboreto who lost a wheel in the pits injuring 2 Lotus and 2 Ferrari mechanics. Barrichello crashed out on track on his own during Friday practice.

Also, that pic of Ratzy with the blood pouring out his nose and mouth is quite shocking. WOW
