Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
These are the tragic photo's of the fatal accident of British driver Boley Pittard at the Monza round of the Italian F3 Championship on the 10th June 1967. Pittard's Lola T60/3 erupted into flames while on the grid just as the flag was dropped. Bo drove the car to the side of the track, attempting to keep the fire away from the other drivers. But the fire was so intense that he suffered 3rd degree burns over 80% of his body, and none of the other drivers stopped to help so it was left to a couple of marshals and a fireman to drag the driver clear. Marshal Alfredo Curtarelli was burnt as he assisted in the rescue. Bo was not wearing fire-proof clothing and his overalls had melted onto him. Initially he was concious and speaking, but the burns were so serious and he had inhaled so much smoke that he died six days later, following a kidney failure on Saturday 10th June 1967. It is not known what triggered this fire, one suggestion is that the driver hit the fuel connector to the carburetor with his foot whilst entering the cockpit, detaching it and causing a leak. The other was that there was a small leak from a fuel tank which ignited. |

The fatal crash of German driver Otto Merz during the first official practice session for the AVUS race on Thursday 18th May 1933. Merz was driving the streamlined Mercedes SSK and the car was clearly a handful in the very wet conditions, it could be seen to be sliding all round the track. The car somersaulted and rolled, throwing Otto out of the car and inflicting fatal injuries. |

3D anaglyphs: What's not to like? All you need is glasses and a willingness to try something new.

To wish a driver/team to be present in this thread is to miss the point of it. Go troll somewhere else you moron. |
