21 year old woman (MAM) in Jakarta was found hanging off of her balcony around 6am yesterday morning. Her two roommates said that she was depressed because her boyfriend had cheated on her. One of them said he saw her get up and go out to sit on the balcony, messing around with her phone, around 5am. The two roommates were awakened around 6am when the neighbors were making a big ruckus. It turns out that what had stirred them up was the discovery of the body.

The police said that there was evidence on her phone that supported the ruling of suicide. Her family refused to order a full autopsy since her phone basically contained a suicide note, but authorized an external examination to rule out foul play.

The external exam discovered no signs of violence anywhere on her body aside from the ligature mark. It also noted that her tongue was not protruding from her mouth, petechiae were identified in the sclera of her eyes, and that she had lost sphincter control during asphyxiation so that her shorts were soiled with both urine and feces.

The family was satisfied with the determination and her body was turned over to them to be washed and prepared for the funeral. The first three videos are taken at the scene whereas the final one is after she'd been washed and her clothes changed by the family.

i feel just overcome by the lack of life on display in vid 3! i think that was a great angle to have captured her at. her raw-dead expression and acute posture make for peach stillframes.

Though the appearance
of post-mortem tranquility does not necessarily denote antemortem lack of struggle—this is as good as it gets, I suppose, based on the fact that she must have lost consciousness while still able to breathe normally, without the manifestation of the hypercapnic response (suffocation)—until the brain called it quits.

If somehow my assessment is incorrect and you are a doctor or medical professional (I am not), then feel free to elaborate.

In any case, I sincerely hope she didn't suffer at all.

Nice case, too bad she didn't filmed her last dance. I wonder how quick she died and if she struggled a lot.

If she jumped from the balcony, the drop was high, so I expect she broke her neck and passed out quickly. But she still had the time to lift one of her arms so I'm not sure that her demise was so quick...

At least based on the last video, the morticans succeded to put her arm done despite the strong rigor mortis.
