I put in "hanged vs hung" into Google, and this is what I got: Hanged is the past tense and past participle of hang only when used in the sense of “put to death by hanging.” For example, The traitor was hanged for treason. |

I'm with DRUSS. Hanged is how I was taught it was used, and, as he says, hung is for those who's life did not actually end.

What's the world coming to... Of all the things I have learned here (subjects ranging from post mortum lividity, to gunshot/wound matching, to ranking of poisons etc) I now know I can come to DR to learn perfect English grammar... Does this website have no limits? |
