I hate to hear news like this were pedestrians are killed by reckless drivers. Imagine you're just walking, minding your own, and then you get killed.

It's ultimately the pedestrian's responsibility to safeguard his own life. That said, anyone in a motor vehicle who strikes and kills a pedestrian in a crosswalk (as this one was reported to be) while speeding deserves prison. They are a menace to the population and cannot be trusted with the burden of freedom if they cannot be trusted to slow down and be observant when approaching a crosswalk. And a lifetime of public transit when they finally secure release for vehicular manslaughter and public endangerment. |
