Re: Heroin Overdose & Opioid Related Deaths from the United States [Big Collection]
Loop1 thank you for all the time and effort you put into this post. really something.i'm sure it took you a while to post all the pics and info and i'm sure everyone appreciates it as much as i do on here. SO sad and unnecessary that all these beautiful young people are dead because of an overdose. I in no way judge any of them..we all have our battles, our addictions, our inner demons. we all struggle...make bad decisions. I have a couple friends here in NJ that luckily were able to get to rehab and be strong enough to get out and still have kicked the heroin addiction. it is said to be near impossible. my heart goes out to the families. I am sure some felt guilty they didn't find them in time or couldn't help them, but it isn't their faults. The family with the gay son, and what they said about him, I don't care about anyones opinion, they KILLED him. they made him feel like shit about himself, and probably guilty, resulting in him finding a way to deal with it-drugs. Looking at the pics of them visiting him in the hospital makes me sick. i am 36 years old and my parents never accepted me. worst thing i could ever do was come out and tell them and expect support. they have relentlessly bullied and made me feel like crap about it, ruining a lot of my relationships in the process. i don't let that happen anymore. i refuse to.but that one story def hit a nerve for me. |

Re: Heroin Overdose & Opioid Related Deaths from the United States [Big Collection]
I am fortunate in that I have never used heroin. But realistically it’s because I never really had a chance or knew where to get it. My heart aches for these people and their families. The turmoil of being an addict is the greatest sadness that many could know. I was an alcoholic for a few years, but flawed my way out of that, thank GOD. And I completely understand why people use downers instead of coke or meth. I have complex PTSD, and anything that can both kick your ass out of the misery of reality and also give you euphoria is a drug that would appeal to emotionally damaged people. |

No sympathy for heroin addicts, my former favorite cousin who used to be a truck driver and contributing member of society has been one for about 10years now. Stolen from every member of our family and all his friends and he does not support his 4 children anymore because he does not work! Scourge of society. Playing roulette with your life every time you use it really. IF I ever became an addict I would not want any sympathy either but that is very unlikely. An occasional joint of store bought weed is fine for me, I am Canadian.

That argument works fine if you believe humanity should be governed by the laws of nature. There's a part of me that understands where you're coming from, but you could say the same thing about any illnesses, especially mental illness. By your logic, we should let people that would die without support from the medical and social community find their own fate. And that's more than just a few of us, yourself included. Go on a remote hiking trip with no food or water or tools or other people and see how long you last. It's the same thing, scaled down to one person. |
