In East Java, Indonesia, a woman was found to have hanged herself inside an abandoned property. She was identified by her family as 45-year-old S., who had a history of acid reflux disease and depression. Her family declined an autopsy, saying they would take the body home.

Slow week for hangers. This is a pretty lame set, but it's the only thing I drummed up that wasn't completely censored. Even so, it is just a couple of ante-mortems, a single cut down postmortem, and some reports. Lot of ink on her case due to her profession, though, so here it is.

25 year old election worker with the KPPS came home from her job, ate dinner with her parents, and then said she was not feeling well so she excused herself to the bathroom.

After about 20 minutes, she still had not returned so her parents banged on the door. She didn't answer, her dad kicked it down, and they discovered her hanging.

She was partially suspended from a ceiling beam and it appeared that she had stepped off of the toilet and used a yellow-and-black scarf as a noose.

Her mother said that her tongue was already completely protruding from her mouth when they cut her down, so they feared she was dead and indeed life saving measures were unsuccessful.

Initially, it was widely suspected that she had been threatened or bullied at her job (very common with election workers in Indonesia), but later a friend told reporters that she had recently broken up with her boyfriend and was depressed.

The family decided to eschew the formal autopsy since suicide seemed a pretty clear circumstance, so only a visually examination was conducted on the scene.

The police determined that her only injuries were the ligature marks from the noose. Her tongue was swollen and protruding, bitten between her teeth.
Every report also mentioned that she had emptied her bladder and bowels into her pants, so despite what she told her parents she apparently didn't bother to actually use the toilet before hanging herself.

Pretty fresh one here. Guatemala. Unidentified young woman was found hanging in a 'shed'. There were several empty bottles of beer sitting nearby and the shed was frequently used for small parties and drinking hangouts by young people.

Apparently she had no ID on her, but she did have a phone. Not sure why they didn't get her ID from the phone, but they did get a recent photo that had been taken with her phone, showing two girls drinking beers in the same shed a few hours earlier. Based on clothing and physical characteristics, the police matched the girl in the photo with the recently-dead body.

She is the girl on the right in the photo, drinking the cerveza. Her red sweater can be seen lying next to her purse on the table in the postmortem image. At some point after her friend, left she apparently decided to remove her sweater and hang herself after consuming several beers.

There was a video of the house, but it showed neither the body nor the actual site of her death. Lengthy and unusually detailed interview with the auntie who found her, though. She said that the girl's tongue was hanging out, snot was running out of her nose, and she'd pissed on the floor. Aside from her lurid descriptions of the corpse, however, it was mostly rambling about how the girl was depressed over a bad breakup.

Teen in Indonesia. Not a lot to work with here. She was cut down before anyone took photos, as according to the report she hadn't been left alone for but a few minutes so they thought she could still be saved. She had hanged herself from a doorjamb using a long cloth scarf.

The mother went and got a neighbor who had medical experience and he determined she was already dead and they waited for the police.

Based on the identification results of the Pesawaran Police Inafis Team, no signs of violence were found on the body of the teenage girl who was the victim of the hanging which occurred in Gedongtataan District, local district.

Pesawaran Police Chief AKBP Maya Henny Hitijahubessy through Gedongtataan Police Chief AKP Mulyadi said that the results of inspection of the victim's body found stains of urine on the victim's pants.

"Apart from that, there were no signs of violence on the victim, there was a V knot around the victim's neck and the length of the cloth used was approximately 220 cm, then the distance from the door latch where the victim hung herself to the floor was 195 cm," said Mulyadi in a release, Friday 1 March 2024.

South Asia. Hanged herself because she was chasing after her friend's boyfriend and got called out for it.

Stuff from India is usually pretty widely spread and this is no exception. I found a dozen sites covering the case and every one was using a variation of the same photo. However, neither postmortem image is perfect. One has a blurred face but most of the length of her body clear. One has a somewhat cropped lower body and a watermark, but no facial censoring. Adding both and hoping that someone can pick up a clean image or video.

The scene itself is pretty standard. Scarf tied to ceiling fan in the bedroom. Only thing to make this one a bit unique is that she's wearing jeans, which is slightly atypical for the pics we get from this region.
