Re: Hanged Girls Thread Continued

No, the movements during hanging are absolutely NOT caused by the autonomic nervous system, which has to do with things like peristaltic action of the intestines and the beating of the heart. You are confusing the sympathetic nervous system with the autonomic system. The movements during hanging are due to hypoxia in the brain stem inducing involuntary muscle movement, also known as spastic response. It is evidence of profound brain damage. There is no medical evidence to suggest that the brain has some sort of "lower" functions with a will to survive that sort of "take over" when the higher consciousness ceases. It's not wired that way.
See I wasn't sure if it was a bit like the spinal arc reflex. I understand now! Thanks for all the info :)

FYI, sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight) is part of the autonomic nervous system, along with the parasympathetic (vegetative functions).

See, this is why I prefer to avoid discussions like this and just stick to photos. Inevitably you get a half dozen people with no credentials all spouting disparate information. I said autonomic, he said sympathetic, you said autonomic was inclusive of sympathetic, and meanwhile casual forum browsers probably don't care enough to sift through multiple differing opinions spouted by amateurs on the internet!

And we wasted an entire page discussing/debating the matter to no meaningful conclusion! Hahaha.

Say what? I have credentials (I studied neurological functioning as part of my Ph.D.). What I said was a clarification (figured you meant to say "central nervous system" not "autonomic"). And other than that, you reply was correct concerning muscle response to hypoxia.

I do think it's worth knowing some of the medical details. If nothing else, it helps some of us to spot fakes.

Must say the "couple hanging" video is lovely, but what did they step off of? Perhaps the scene had been cleaned up a bit before the camera crew got there?

Yeah, I was mostly taking the piss. Sorry if the humor didn't translate well. You are correct in that I didn't mean autonomic and I do appreciate the clarification.

Re: Hanged Girls Thread Continued

I was reviewing the two hanged women threads, and noticed that entry numbers 645, 813, and 814 among others are missing the pictures. There are several entries in the first thread that are also missing the pics.

Also there was a video associated with this picture that is no longer working. If possible, could one of you please repost this video. I'm sure that a lot of the newcomers to this site would also appreciate it.

Thanx
