One thing I don't understand...how can someone hang themselves if they are sitting on the floor? (Not this person, but some on here.) Wouldn't self-preservation instinct kick in and you would involuntarily stand up?

Well, they put the noose around their neck and apply pressure by sitting, leaning, etc. Once they pass out, there is no turning back and gravity takes care of the rest. It's more self-induced strangling than hanging in the educational sense... |

According to the news report, poverty and crippling debt were the primary impetus for her decision. Before she hung herself, she wrote out all of the amounts she owed and to whom on her body. Mental help was likely in order for this one some time ago. |

21 year old nursing student hung herself with a grey scarf in her doorway. Images aren't great because I had to pull them off of a low-res video. Still, hangings are rarely photographed these days, so I'll post what I can find. |
