The 46 year old woman’s death confuses me a lot. I’m pretty sure it’s incredibly hard to hang yourself that way, especially kneeling or completely sitting down, I guess she had to push her head downwards very hard until she blacks out. I’m just quite amazed really, I mean if someone is 100% intent of dying but I’ve tried partial in the past and it’s so much more harder than it looks.

Generally speaking, all she had to do was get the angle and pressure right to compress the carotid artery long enough to black out and then it's the point of no return.

I didn't mention in the original post, but some of the discussion I followed on the newsgroups about it involved her family and they indicated that she may have OD'd on medication before putting her neck in the noose, so she may have been half unconscious already.
