According to police investigators, she stood on an empty jerrycan and then kicked it back to hang herself with an orange rope. She was estimated to have been dead less than 30 minutes when her friends arrived.

The family refused an autopsy (fairly typical), but the police report states that her body exhibited multiple typical signs of suicidal hanging:
the ligature mark on her neck matched the rope she used, her eyes were partially open and exhibited petechial hemorrhage, her tongue was swollen and protruding past her lips (thought not bitten as is sometimes the case), her fists were clenched, she had voided her bladder and bowels into her pants, and urine was spattered on the floor beneath her feet.

Man, the most degrading thing about suicide is the bowel/bladder evacuation. It just seems wrong. I guess if I was going to go I would wear a diaper under my clothes. That seems a bit humiliating too, but at least the photos would be fluids free.

I have several hundred autopsy reports of hanging suicides in my files (mostly from the US) and not a single one of them wore a diaper.

If I recall off the top of my head, one college girl in Texas who used the bagging/gas method of suicide did wear one, but she's the only one.

TBH, my understanding is that most suicides are fairly spontaneous. Considered long term, perhaps, but the actual decision is often made within a matter of moments or hours after the catalytic event that triggered the push from ideation to action. I suspect most of them just don't think about being photographed with soiled pants or pissing on the floor, even though it is fairly well known at this point that it's going to be a mess.

The girl I referred to with the bag had been meticulously planning hers for weeks, but it required the purchase of supplies, medications, and a location secure enough to not be interrupted during the long process. Hangers really only need a few minutes and an electrical cord to get it done.

She was young and kinda cute. Still have her glasses on...Poor thing.

As Costa Rica isn't a violent country like others latin america, probably it was really a suicide and not a murder.

Sad we can't get more or higher rez pictures. I took a look in google with her name, but was unable to get alive picture.
