Five of family commit suicide over alleged harassment Published 23-Feb-2016 16:00 IST Spot visual Mandya (Karnataka): In a tragic incident, five members of a family committed suicide by hanging themselves in Mandya district, police said on Tuesday. Police claimed that family problems drove the five of a family to suicide in Maradevanhalli village of Nagamangal taluk in the district. According to police, the deceased have been identified as Meenakshamma (55), her daughters Yogashree (20), Padmashree (22), Suchitra (26), and son Yogananda (16). Meenakshamma was working as school teacher in Alisandra village near Maradevanhalli village. Meenakshamma's husband Ramegouda who was also working as school teacher, was killed in a road accident about three months back. The elder daughter Suchitra who was married about two years back was not staying with her husband. According to sources, Suchitra's husband and his family members were allegedly harassed her. These family problems were said to be the reasons behind this tragic incident. On Tuesday morning, neighbours noticed the tragic incident and alerted police. Senior police officials, deputy superintendent of police and others went to the spot to take stock of the situation. Further investigation is underway. . |
