What is going on with the rope that looks like it is going through her face?

This looks to me like some kind of a photoshop job.
Actually, judging by the right profile photo, I believe that is the stem of her glasses, which fell half off her face while she was dancing in the noose.

Possibly an artifact left from a watermark removal.
No, as I said previously, it appears in both images, front and side, in proportion to the subject herself. I also have these photos from the original source and there is no watermarking.

It's the stem of her glasses.
