One thing that never fails to amaze me is the variety of nooses employed. Belts, sashes, ropes, cords, wires, sometimes what look like large pieces of cloth. And practically none are tied the same way or in the traditional "hangman's noose" manner. But they ALL worked! It must be easier to hang yourself than is generally believed.

The woman on the bed amazes me. It looks as if she just looped a sash around her neck and slid down the bed until it was tight. No attempt to escape and it doesn't look as if she struggled much.

And you have no idea how many of those contraptions failed, leaving their victims alive! Those silly girls generally have no idea how to make it proper, so I'm pretty sure more than often they end up with a snapped rope/whatever, or with their feet flat on the ground (and no guts to do a sit-up). And they will never ever tell anyone. And most likely will never ever do it again (which is good). |
