The cracking sound is probably the cloth-rope or the tapestry as full weight was applied. The rope seems to be atteached to the tapestry imho.

Hard to say, really. The body does all sorts of things even after death. It twitches, groans, sputters, belches, pisses, shits, aspirates, expands, contracts, exhales, gasps...all sorts of things even after brain function has ceased. Could have been any one of those things, any four of them, or something else entirely. But dead bodies are very seldom clean and quiet, so weird noises aren't to be unexpected.
