It has taken me 3 days to get thru this thread, and while I have NO idea how you guys/gals find these pics so I have nothing to share, I would just like to say this has been MOST educational and I would really like to thank the posters that have taken the time to explain things. I don't consider myself a stupid person, but I had absolutely no idea you could hang yourself in some of the manners shown. I appreciate the explanations of what actually happens to your body and the different methods. I do have one question though. Some of the pics are labeled as a "partial" hanging, could someone tell me what the difference between that and a "whole" (for lack of a better term) hanging? |

The distinction is between 'partial suspension' hangings and 'full suspension' hangings. In essence, the full suspension is where you hang yourself with your feet off the ground, placing the entire weight of your body against your neck. The partial suspension is where you hang yourself with your feet or knees on the ground, partially kneeling. This places only some of your body's weight against the carotid artery-enough to pass out quickly and fairly painlessly. The partial suspension is somewhat more common, both because it is easier (can be done almost anywhere with any sort of ligature versus full suspension which takes height and a strong ligature) and far less painful. Typically the ones you see in this thread who are only partially suspended were unconscious before they felt any pain. In contrast, the poor fuckers who did a full suspension hanging with no real drop likely suffered anywhere from 15-90 seconds before finally blacking out and dying. In short, though, just see if their feet are touching the ground. If they are, it was likely a partial hanging. If their feet are off of the floor entirely, it was a full suspension. |
