Guy in His Paramotor Crashed and Died

He was a 59 year old hospital director in Thailand. Happened in a field near an ice factory. He was with 3 other paragliders and apparently reported before take off that his paramotor was having engine problems. About 20 minutes later, they lost contact with him and it's believed he crashed from 50-70 meters in the air.

Confucius say "sometimes it takes more than a rubberband to sustain flight". Confucius also say "what goes up must come down, sometimes dropping like a rock". Confucius live to be wise old man by not immitating the feathered bird.

Re: Guy in His Paramotor Crashed and Died

From the damage, it looks like he went straight into the ground. He must have been trying for a steep, high-bank turn, and lost it.
You actually don't hear of many accidents with these. If the engine quits, you are already in a parachute, so you just land. They are not high-performance machines, you just kind of mush around through the air. They are pretty safe if not mishandled. Takeoff and land at about 15 mph. Fly about 40-50 mph.
