In all honesty, I think, yeah, we might be somewhat arrogant in the sense that we felt since we had the "bomb" at the end of WWI, we made the difference. Also, too, most 3rd world countries do rely on U. S. for assitance in one form or another. And the fact the U. S. does have to most power military in the world does help, too.

And yes, you Americans can be a bit arrogant. I lived over there for over a year and was amazed about how friendly and lovely you all were but at the same time how arrogant you could be about Europe.

Second, I am Norwegian, we are NOT a member of the EU....I live and work in the UK.

But don't be too taken in by American hospitality, though. There are a lot of assholes over here, native-born assholes, more than I can care to count. But most Americans do have a good attitude about Europeans except for the French. Never could figure that one out. A lot of anti-French sentiment here. I think it had something to do with Charles De'Gaulle, and his telling the Allies after to war to go screw themselves.

Well have lived in France as well, so I can rely to why people are anti French. Think you need to be there to understand it. They are rather full of them selves!
And don't worry, I am not naive..I have a fair good idea about the native American ;)

See that? A little conversation and knowlege, and you now understand a lot of what others say about Americans are generally untrue. Another thing to consider, too, is the fact that almost everything's cheaper here than in Europe especially gasoline (oh God is it cheaper!). A lot of anti-American sentiment stems from us being labeled as "capitalistic pigs." And I can understand that to a degree. But I don't think the U. S. is stealing from anyone else's pocket anymore than anyone else is. Many of the Middle Eastern nations dislike us, 'cuz we helped Israel. Honestly, that animosity has little to do with that tiny strip of land than it has to do with the fact that Israel is a Jewish state. That is the main root of all this anti-American crap (by the way, anti-semitism is alive and well here, too).
