I think he did the 2 first times he jumped that day. It says this was his 3rd jump and this time he did not deploy his main or reserve chutes (paraphrasing).

The skin actually does a pretty good job at keeping all the shattered pieces together, even though what that body would look like on the inside might be a totally different story... Falling onto soil does cushion some of the impact as well, especially compared to falling onto rock or concrete. If you can remember the pictures of the passengers of MH17, they were all pretty much intact as well, even though they fell from 10-12 km altitude. Yeah, that must be insane. But the same thing goes for people who commit suicide by jumping in front of a train. I'm sure that must take a hell of a commitment as well. |
