An exchange of gunfire between police and criminals resulted in the death of four criminals, including 32-year-old Vinicio da Silva Bento, one of Rio's most prominent luxury car thieves. Two more criminals were arrested.

Agents from the Military and Civil Police carried out an operation in the community to arrest criminals involved in vehicle thefts in the region. The officers were met with gunfire, which they responded to in kind.

After the exchange of gunfire, they found two of the criminals had died - Vinicius, known as the 'Machinist', and 23-year-old Alisson Lucas dos Santos, known as 'Fatty'. Vinicius and Alisson were known to have participated in the robbery of a transport company on the 3rd.

Two other criminals - Igor Henrique Guimarães da Conceiçao, and Ramon Vinícius de Souza Soares - were taken to hospital, but died from their injuries.

During the operation, agents also arrested two suspects and seized a 5.56 caliber carbine, two pistols, five magazines of various calibers and ammunition, as well as drugs.
