Former Sister-in-law of Drug Lord Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman Executed in Her Car
A woman identified as the presumed ex-sister-in-law of recently extradited drug lord Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman was executed in broad daylight in the Mexican state of Jalisco on Feb. 9 in the afternoon. Armed hitmen opened fire, killing 41-year-old Idalia Romelia Salazar-Gonzalez as she sat in her white Mercedes-Benz at an intersection in Jalisco. Police have identified the victim as the aunt of Ivan Archivaldo Salazar and Jesus Alfredo Guzmán Salazar, the sons of ‘El Chapo.’ Police confirmed the victim is the sister of Alejandrina María Salazar, the ex-wife Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman, who remains imprisoned in the United States awaiting trial on a 17-count drug trafficking indictment. Idalia Romelia and another sister Maria Olga Salazar Hernández were investigated by Mexico’s Attorney General in 1998 for laundering drug money on behalf of their brother-in-law and his Sinaloa cartel. The murdered woman allegedly carried out several banking transactions for the amount of 200 million pesos, which she deposited in Scotiabank Inverlat account, in the name of Iván Archivaldo. Officials said she also purchased 17 luxury vehicles and 2 estates in Jalisco. The murder of Salazar-Gonzalez comes in the wake of the attempt on the lives of her nephews Ivan Archivaldo Salazar and Jesus Alfredo Guzmán Salazar. Hi res. pics.         |

Killing El Chapo's ex-sister-in-law makes no sense at all: her sister was married to him back in 1977 and for only 3 years (although they had 4 kids). Seems like a pretty clear message to the Sinaloa Cartel that Chapo is not around anymore. That or she just kinda pissed somebody off. |
