I used to be a crime scene cleaner and we had this one job where this guy had a heart attack in his spa and died with the heat on. He lived alone and no one found him for awhile, the spa basically became "man soup". We ended up draining the entire spa with the equipment we usually used on roadkill. It was a large shopvac on the back of a flatbed truck essentially, it worked really well. When we got to the job they had removed his skeleton so it was just the soup left and the spa had been turned off. You know when you let gravy cool in the refried and it developed a thin solid layer on top? Well thats how this spa looked, my partner and I both had smelled far worse and so went right to work. As soon as that solid layer started to crack , one of the foulest stenches, a combination of rotting flesh, shit, and reduced human fat was damn near paralyzing in its stench. I barely kept my lunch down. It is amazingly foul smelling when things decompose in standing water, add heat and I think you got the perfect recipe for bacteria to just go ape shit.
